The Unplanned Magic Show That Had Me Begging For Compassion

Posted on Monday, 3rd May 2010 in Recreation

Last week I was shuffling down the street, trying my best to beat a hangover that was holding on for dear life. It was two in the afternoon, yet the cobwebs in my mind were refusing their grip on my sanity. Which is just as well, because what happened next surely destroyed plenty of my neural connections. I passed by this bookstore, and noticed this guy inside beckoning me to come in. Naturally, I complied.

I looked inside and noticed this one guy doing all these random card tricks for the people inside. I walked in, and they seemed to be regular run of the mill card tricks that most people learn in second grade. He would have people guess a card, put it back in the deck, and then immediately tell them what card it was. Needless to say it was rather impressive.

Then this guy started doing these crazy mentalist tricks. He started reading everybody’s minds at once and mixing their thoughts together. He would make up some weird poetry on the spot, and it would incorporate all these people’s deepest, darkest secrets. To say it was strange would be beyond the wildest limits of my capabilities of expression.

After that he did more normal tricks, like making things vanish and not come back, he made a few people float up in the air, and he made this puppy dance around and sing the theme from “The Love Boat.” Actually when I think about it, the whole affair was quite out of the ordinary. I’m not sure if I know what really happened.

I decided to get out of there before he did something that permanently affected my grip on reality. But just as I was leaving, I heard him shouting at me with a desperation that seemed to be coming to a shocking climax.

You must learn magic tricks! You must study the ways of the dark arts in order to perform the reality bending entertainment that is your destiny! I was too scared to turn around, because I was afraid of what would happen if I did.

How To Undoubtedly Make The Hearts And Diamonds Hop Through The Deck

Posted on Saturday, 20th March 2010 in Recreation

If you like to impress your friends with simple card tricks, then you’ve come to the right place. Here’s a fantastically simple trick that you’ll be able to do once you finish reading this. Despite being shockingly simple to learn and to do, you’ll never get caught if you it right. And don’t worry, because doing it right is super easy.

This is how it will surface to your stunned audience or contacts (or stranger on the street for that matter!) You mosey up and say that you have a magic deck of cards. You speedily fan through the deck, so they can notice it’s a fairly common deck. Not a caper deck filled with the Three of Clubs or something like that.

Then you tap the top of the deck, and demonstration them the peak two cards. No big deal, right? Then you tap the deck again, but those same two cards are now at the bottom! Then you take those two cards off the bottom, and put them in center of the deck. Tap the deck when more (you can borrow a pencil or something as well as use it as a magic wand if you like), plus the two cards are again at the summit! You scratch your head, and go on to another stunt, or if this is with a stranger at a party or something, you scratch your head as well as amble away. This will exit a fabulous impression, and they will never forget you!

OK, here’s the secret. This only works with the Two plus Three of both Diamonds and Hearts. Once you start, you’ll have the Two of Hearts, and the Three of Diamonds on apex, plus the Two of Diamonds, plus the Three of Hearts on the bottom. Once you show them the top two cards, they won’t glance entirely closely. Then when you display them the bottom two, they will bewilderment what the heck is going on, as they will assume they are the same cards, after they incredibly aren’t.

Then you rapidly take them, stick them anyplace in the middle (you can even separate them if you like), plus once more display them the cars on crest, which are different from the ones they just saw, but they won’t remember. This greatest if you can make up some goofy story involving hearts plus diamonds, three guys plus two girls, or whatever. That way they’ll be looking at the cards even less closely.

Don’t worry about being caught, as it almost never happens. It will only happen if they’ve seen the ruse before, or if you fan the cards out for too long. All they exceptionally need to notice is that one is a Two, the other is a Three, plus they are both red. if you tell a pleasant parable concerning two of something, three of something else, plus hearts and diamonds, they won’t have a warning, and will be fittingly impressed with your magical skills. Have fun.

The Remarkable Mentalist Card Trick

Posted on Tuesday, 16th March 2010 in Recreation

This is a fantastic mentalist trick where you can easily and powerfully demonstrate your ability to mentally project simple thoughts into the mind of your subject. This illusion uses a simple deck of cards, and some set up beforehand, as well as some decent patter. Since the patter is only used for mental misdirection, you can talk about any old thing and it will work fantastically.

Here’s how the caper will look to your soon to be extremely awed test subject. You tell them you have a deck of cards, and you will seize each card off the top, and ponder on the color, red or black. Then you will project the color into their brain, and they will unconsciously decide the right color. You carefully go through the whole deck, projecting either black or red into their brain.

When you are finished, you will possess two stacks of cards. Whenever they guess red, you put the cards to the left, and every time they guess black, you put the cards to the right. You explain to them that based on to the laws of statistics, two or three in a row is hit and miss chance, but more than five or six in a row is evidence of something deeper, something puzzling. You ask them to choose which to check first, black or red. Then pick up whichever stack is that color, and ask them how many cards in a row would persuade them of your powers. Customarily they’ll say somewhere between five and ten.

You then carry on to flip ten cards over, all the exact color that they predicted. You have demonstrated your capability to eloquently project your thoughts into their brain, and they will never look at you the same way again.

Here’s how to do the trick. Earlier, you’ll need to isolated out all the red and black cards, put them into the deck. So you’ll have 26 black cards on top of 26 red cards. When you are “projecting” the card color into their brain, you’ll go through all the black cards, and all of the red cards. Since they’ll likely choose indiscriminately between black and red, after the first half the trick is over, you’ll have two stacks, with black on top of red, on either side.

They, of course, will assume one stack is wholly black, and one stack is fully red. So when you ask them which stack they’d like to look at first, just remember which color is on top. If they select red, display them ten cards in a row from the bottom, and if they choose black, display them ten cards in a row from the top. You’ll need to be chatting when you pick up the actual stack, and turn it over in your hands a couple times to keep their attention off which side of the stack you pull the cards from. This trick always amazes them, and will persuade any skeptic beyond a shadow of a doubt of your spiritual projection abilities. Have fun.

The Remarkable Extrasensory Card Guess

Posted on Saturday, 13th March 2010 in Recreation

Here’s a great card trick that will always impress them, and they will never figure out how you do it, unless of course you choose to tell them. This is great with both kids and adults. And it’s perfect to add your own story or personal patter to make it unique to yourself. They are plenty of ways to reveal this cool trick.

Here’s the basic trick, as it looks like to your audience. You hold a standard deck of cards, and fan it out, like they would imagine. Then you command them to select a card, any card. They choose card, and you tell them to examine it delicately, and show it to their friends. After they position it back in the deck, you strangely pluck it right out. They will be surprised, and think you have powerful psychic powers.

Here’s how to do the stunt. While they are busily learning their card, you divide the deck, and make a place for them to set their card. All you need to do is take a instant peak at the card that you will rest on top of theirs. Just bear in mind this card, and once they place there’s in the deck, you’ll know precisely what card comes after. There are numerous ways to reveal this trick.

The most noticeable way is to simply imagine you are reading their mind while looking through the cards. Then when you get to there’s (which is next to the one you peaked at), you merely pull it out. This alone will worth the price of admission. But hang around, there’s more.

You can search through the deck, pretending to look for it. Once you get to there card, part and re stack the stack so their card is on top. Then place the deck face down on a counter, say some enchanting words, tap the top, and there card will be on top. But hang on, that’s not all, there’s one more potent reveal.

Once you have their card on top, place the deck behind your back, or under the table. Then speedily take their card out, flip it over, and place it back in the deck, so it’s facing the reverse direction of all the other cards. Then act as if that you can’t guess their card, and get them to tell you which one it was. Then just look through the deck, now with the cards face up, and there’s will be the only card that is face down. This is only a few ways to reveal their card, I’m sure you can suppose of many others. The more you can talk up your psychic powers of assumption before this trick, the better. You’ll have a amazed audience in no time, wanting to see more tricks. Have fun with this.

The Powerful Sticking Coins Magic Trick

Posted on Tuesday, 23rd February 2010 in Recreation

If you like simple, fun and powerfully mesmerizing up close magic tricks, then you’ve come to the right place. I’ll show you a quick trick in this short article that will have them wondering if you’ve made some secret deal with the devil or something.

Here’s how the trick looks to the audience. You ask to borrow a couple of coins, preferably pennies, or pence pieces if you are in Britain. Any other currency, you must get coins that are made from copper. Some countries use aluminum coins, so they won’t work for this trick.

Once you have two coins, you rub them together and say a few magic words. The more strange sounding the magic words are, the better. And then, through your incredible powers of telepathy and other worldly skills, the two coins will magically stick together like glue. When you touch them together, they will magically stick, like glue, and you can pick it up off the table. If you give the two coins back to their original owner, it will be impossible for them to duplicate this trick.

Here’s the secret. You’ll need to get a small Neodymium magnet. These are cheap and you can buy them online or from any hobby shop. Get one small enough to hide between your forefinger and middle finger on either hand. Just make sure that the coin in your hand is in contact with the magnet at all times. That will magnetize the coin, so it will pick up the other coin.

This requires a bit of misdirection and some patter. Talk up a good game, before, during, and after the trick. And be careful not to spend too much time showing them that the coins are sticking together. Hold them together long enough so they will notice that the coins are sticking, and then give them the coins back. You want the focus on your hands only long enough to see that the coins are stuck together, then quickly shift he focus to the coins, rather than your hands, but giving them back to the original owner.

This is a great trick because it only takes a little bit of practice, and the only prop you need to carry around with you is a small magnet. Anyplace people have had a couple of drinks is perfect for this trick. This is also a great bar trick, as their are usually coins that are sitting around on the table for whatever reason.

One way to do this trick is to go right into it without any announcement whatsoever. Just pick up one coin, touch it with the hidden magnet in your hand, and then use it to pick up another coin. Look at them with surprise and astonishment, (long enough for somebody else to notice) and then quickly put them back down. That way the focus will be on the coins, and not your hands. Of course, everybody else at your table will try and repeat this, but won’t be able to. If you can do a good job of acting innocent and clueless, you can have great fun with this trick.

Simply Learn This Effectively Remarkable And Exciting Card Trick

Posted on Monday, 22nd February 2010 in Recreation

If you like to entertain people with simple card tricks, then it doesn’t get much easier than this. This is an incredible trick because this is one of the few tricks where you don’t even have to touch the deck.

Here’s how it looks to your audience. You turn your back, and tell them to pick any non face card. Ace through ten. Then have them put a number of cards on top of their chosen card, equal to the chosen card, on the top of the deck.

So if they pick a three, then they’d put three cards on top of the three, and then put this new stack of four cards on top of the deck.

After they’ve chosen their card, and stacked them onto the deck, ask them to spread out ten cards or so, face up, from the top of the deck, on the table in any order they choose.

Most people can’t figure this trick out, even though it’s pretty simple. They have to be pretty good at reverse engineering to get this without you revealing this to them.

Once you learn this you’ll be amazed how easy it is. Once they start laying the cards out, start counting, but start from the second card.

As soon as you get to a card where the card’s number is the same as your secret mental count, that’s their card. The best way to do this is quickly and silently, while they are laying the cards out. That gives you more time to do your psychic impression.

You can even give them the entire instructions, and not turn back around (or come back into the room) until after they’ve not only chosen their card, but also laid them all out on the table. This works great at parties.

Be forewarned, as there is about a ten percent chance that two cards will actually match up with your mental count. Don’t worry, you can play this off pretty easily. Pick which ever card you like, and then choose it as their card. If you’re wrong, they’ll question your mental powers, and start giving you a hard time, which is when you say “just kidding,” and then pick their real card right away, as if you knew what it was all along.

Have fun with this. This is a great trick to do with kids, as they can learn it quickly and show it to their friends.
