Using a mirror at home shows you everything on your swing. I used a simple mirror to get my club back on plane. It feels like Im taking the club way outside but its not actually going outside. From there, my hands and shaft get set perfectly at the top. This is why I love Anthony Kim’s swing so much. It is a great swing to copy and I try to set my swing very much like AK.

@whitepatch342 ahhhhhh… you already said that

Your somewhat correct but the amateurs take the club inside because the arms arent doing their job in hinging up only and the body isnt doing it’s job in pivoting. All pros use those two combos, body pivoting and hands hinging, to seemingly put the club on plane all day

Looks more like 1 plane. Elbow tucked in and shaft not much above hit head. Left arm almost parallel to shoulders. Go look at Ben Hogans swing in slow mo.

Is this 1 or 2 plane golf swing..?
March 11th, 2010 at 10:13 am
yes he winds up well, but on the downswing in my opinion is where he really stands out…bump left hip, then rotate…damn!
March 11th, 2010 at 10:13 am
Totally agreed, I love how he keeps the angle around his right knee and just winds up against it, great power move.

AK has an awesome swing….imo his leg work hip action is one of the best on tour
March 11th, 2010 at 10:13 am
Agreed. My waggle is the stay connected move before every swing and its been workin great.
March 11th, 2010 at 10:13 am
im gonna go ahead and let the cat out of the bag…
the secret is staying connected ( inner bicepts touching outter pecs throughout the swing) throughout the swing and using the lower body to initiate the down swing(turning belt buckle to target) thats what AK and many great ballstrickers do.
for me staying connected is key..whether im hitting a driver, iron,or wedge. even in the short game chip shots and pitch shots staying connected is key

uuuuuuggly

rate my swing.
March 11th, 2010 at 10:13 am
@YoshNaGosh Not really. The problem all amateurs make is they take the club back too inside even though they think they dont. The one thing all pros have in common is they take the club back right on line.
March 11th, 2010 at 10:13 am
his swing is sooo on plane……..just as much on plane as tiger in 2000
March 11th, 2010 at 10:13 am
his hands are way down the shaft :S
March 11th, 2010 at 10:13 am
he stand pretty upright..no?
March 11th, 2010 at 10:13 am
What pro’s swing is not amazing to watch?? They all make it look easy to me!
March 11th, 2010 at 10:13 am
AK is so on plane cause of the timing and turn in his swing if that makes sense.. All great golf swings nowadays are ‘Hogan built’ they take the club away and simply turn up, so simple and so effective.

Kinda makes you wanna be, doesn’t it? Does me.
Another great aspect: containing the rotation of his shoulders so long into the downswing (that is, they’re still pointed right of the target line close to, and I’d argue at, impact). I know the theory is that you get them open at impact, that you pull your arms down with the rotation of your shoulders and upper body, but it’s just not true. Almost all good players show independent arm swing and shoulders closed until at or close to impact.
March 11th, 2010 at 10:13 am
there has to be a secret how he is so on plane
March 11th, 2010 at 10:13 am

March 11th, 2010 at 10:13 am
He was stupid enough to show up monged to PGA tour event.
March 11th, 2010 at 10:13 am
i dont know why you have -1, because that is what he is using
March 11th, 2010 at 10:13 am
do you actually think anthony kim one of the best golfers in the world would actually be stupid enough to play the tour championship hungover… what a stupid question
March 11th, 2010 at 10:13 am
